Which is better for campus life: University of Minnesota or Arizona State University?

The biggest practical tradeoff is climate and setting: Arizona State gives you a warm, outdoor-heavy, big-energy social scene in Tempe, while the University of Minnesota offers a more traditional Big Ten campus feel in Minneapolis with a strong city connection but a longer winter that shapes student life. ASU tends to feel more spread across a lively college-town-and-city environment with lots of constant activity, while Minnesota feels more like a classic residential campus embedded in a major urban area. Both are social schools, but they create that social life in different ways.

For pure day-to-day energy, ASU often feels more immediately fun and active. Tempe revolves heavily around student life, Mill Avenue is close by, and the weather makes it easier for people to be out, walking around, going to events, or hanging out for much of the year. It can be easier to stumble into social activity there because the campus culture is visibly extroverted and the outdoor environment helps.

Minnesota has a strong campus life too, just with a different rhythm. The campus is bigger and more divided between East and West Bank, but it has a real school-spirit presence, major sports, and access to Minneapolis neighborhoods, music, restaurants, and internships. Students who like having a major city right there often love it, though social life can take a bit more intention at first because people disperse into a wider metro area and winter changes how students spend time.

If meeting people easily is your top priority, both can work, but ASU usually has the edge for a student looking for a more instantly social, high-visibility campus atmosphere. Minnesota can be excellent socially if you want a blend of campus traditions and city life, but ASU is more likely to match the "fun, active college environment" exactly as you described it.
