Florida has plenty to do in Gainesville, but it is more of a classic college-town environment than a true big-city experience.

Minnesota fits a student who wants the city to be part of everyday life, not just an occasional weekend outing. The campus is integrated into Minneapolis, and the light rail connects campus to downtown Minneapolis, downtown Saint Paul, the airport, and other parts of the metro. That makes it much easier to build an off-campus routine around coffee shops, museums, music venues, internships, and city events.

Florida makes more sense for someone who wants a lively social scene centered on the university itself.
