Northeastern gives you much more immediate access to Boston, while Wellesley offers a clearly more suburban, self-contained campus experience. Northeastern sits right in Boston near Back Bay, Fenway, and the Museum of Fine Arts area, so the city is part of everyday student life. Wellesley is in the town of Wellesley, and getting into the city usually takes planning around commuter rail or rides.

At Northeastern, you can walk out of campus and be in a dense urban environment right away. Students regularly use the T, walk to restaurants, internships, concerts, and neighborhoods nearby without needing a special trip. The boundary between campus life and city life is much blurrier, which changes the day-to-day feel a lot.

Wellesley feels much more residential and contained. Its campus is known for being beautiful, spacious, and separate from the city, and the immediate surroundings are quieter and more small-town than urban. Boston is still accessible for weekends, internships, or outings, but it is not something that naturally folds into every day in the same way.

That difference usually matters most in routine. At Northeastern, the city can shape your schedule even on an ordinary Tuesday because it is right there. At Wellesley, campus itself is more central to student life, and trips into Boston tend to feel more intentional rather than spontaneous.
