If your actual cost there is substantially lower, that gap can outweigh prestige differences very quickly because less debt gives you more freedom after graduation.

Wake Forest fits a student who wants a smaller, more residential private-school experience and is likely to benefit from close faculty access, tighter advising, and a more intimate campus culture. Its value case is strongest when financial aid is generous or when you are targeting fields where Wake’s career support, class size, and alumni connections may be especially meaningful to your experience and outcomes.

So financially, compare net price, not sticker price. If ASU is much cheaper, it is probably the stronger value. If Wake brings your cost down to a similar level, then the smaller environment and private-school resources may justify choosing it.
