Arizona State vs University of Southern California for business: which is better for undergraduate business students?

USC is the stronger option for undergraduate business if your main priorities are reputation and career opportunities. USC’s Marshall School of Business carries more national prestige in finance, consulting, and entrepreneurship, and it benefits from being in Los Angeles, where students have access to a large alumni network and frequent employer recruiting. Arizona State’s W. P. Carey School of Business is well regarded and very solid, but it does not usually have the same level of brand recognition or placement power at the highest-paying firms.

One major difference is employer access. USC students are closer to internships during the school year in LA, and Marshall has longstanding connections across entertainment business, real estate, consulting, accounting, and startups. That kind of proximity matters because undergraduate business hiring often starts with internships, networking, and alumni referrals, not just classroom strength.

If cost is much lower at ASU, that can absolutely outweigh the prestige gap, particularly if you are not set on ultra-competitive finance or consulting recruiting.
