ASU has broad academic offerings, a huge alumni network, strong recruiting scale, and more room to find honors programs, research, and career-specific opportunities without private-school tuition. Pepperdine offers smaller classes, a more contained campus culture, and a distinctive location, but those advantages do not automatically translate into stronger financial return.

If ROI is the main lens, ASU is the safer value choice for most students, especially if you are in-state or receiving merit aid. It is a large public university with substantial resources across business, engineering, journalism, health, and the sciences, and its size can work in your favor when it comes to internships, faculty labs, student organizations, and alumni connections.
