When are UC Berkeley Regents' scholarship notifications released?

UC Berkeley typically releases Regents' and Chancellor’s Scholarship notifications shortly after sending out regular freshman admission decisions. In most recent cycles, Berkeley admissions decisions have come out in late March (for example, March 24 or 25 in recent years), and the first wave of Regents’ notifications has been sent either on the same day or 1-3 days afterward.

So, if you see your acceptance on Cal's admissions portal, you’ll either get a separate message within your portal or an email inviting you to interview or notifying you that you’ve been selected as a Regents’ and Chancellor’s finalist. Some years the notification comes at the exact time admissions decisions are released, but other years there’s a slight delay, so don’t panic if you don’t hear immediately.

For example, last year several applicants reported receiving the Regents' invitation email the evening after seeing their Berkeley acceptance, though not everyone hears at the same time. In some cases, applicants received an email invitation to interview for the scholarship within 1-2 days of their admission notice. The process can include a virtual interview, but not all colleges at Berkeley require it.

If you’re accepted and don’t see anything about Regents’ in your portal, keep monitoring your email (including your spam/junk folders) for about a week. The scholarship is highly competitive and offered to only a tiny percentage of admits, so it's normal to feel anxious while waiting.
