When are UC Berkeley decisions released this year?

I'm super anxious about when UC Berkeley will release their admissions decisions. I know in past years it has varied from day to day, and I've seen everything from mid to late March. Does anyone have any solid info on what date (and maybe even time) the decisions will drop in 2024?

I applied to both the College of Letters & Science and the College of Engineering, and I'm trying to plan out my schedule for that week so I'm not super distracted in class that day. It would be really helpful to know if anyone's heard from counselors, or already-released email communications from Cal about when the portal opens.

Any info would help my nerves right now!

This year, UC Berkeley has announced that freshman admissions decisions for Fall 2024 will be released on March 28, 2024. Decisions are usually posted in the evening, often around 5:00 to 6:00 PM Pacific Time, although the official communications generally specify the date without a set hour. Based on the last few years, you can expect the portal to open in the late afternoon.

Emails usually go out to applicants alerting them when they can view their decision, but students often find out the exact time from Berkeley’s admission Twitter account, Reddit threads, or by checking the portal that day. Be sure to log in to your student application portal for the most up-to-date and official information, and keep an eye on your email around that date just in case Berkeley sends any updates.

A helpful strategy is to limit your distractions as the release day gets close. If you have important classes or events on March 28, it might help to avoid checking your decision right before those commitments. Some students plan out something relaxing (like a workout or hanging out with supportive friends) to do beforehand to help manage the nerves. UC Berkeley does not differentiate decision release times by college—everyone hears back at the same time.

Good luck with your decision, and remember that however it goes, it’s a huge accomplishment to get this far!
