For a student who wants social energy to feel constant and campus-wide, Wisconsin tends to deliver that more reliably.

One major difference is scale. Wisconsin is a large public university, so there is almost always something happening, whether that is football Saturdays, lakefront hangouts, club events, bar nights, or crowded student areas near campus. Tulane absolutely has a strong social life, but it is a smaller private school, so the energy can feel more concentrated in certain groups rather than spread across a massive student body.

The surrounding city also shapes the vibe in a very different way. Tulane has the huge advantage of being in New Orleans, which gives students access to music, festivals, restaurants, and nightlife that are hard to match anywhere. But a lot of the fun there can feel city-based rather than campus-based. At Wisconsin, Madison and the university feel more intertwined, so the student social scene is often easier to tap into even without leaving the immediate campus orbit.

School spirit is another real separator. Wisconsin has one of the clearest classic college-social atmospheres in the country, with traditions, game days, and a student culture that pulls a lot of people into shared experiences. Tulane can be very fun, especially for students who love an outgoing, festive city and a somewhat more niche social scene, but Wisconsin more often feels like the fuller all-around college-life package.
