Fordham vs Tulane for social life: which one has the stronger college experience?

The biggest practical tradeoff is this: Tulane has a more traditional, campus-centered social scene, while Fordham’s social life is more tied to New York City and takes more initiative to tap into. At Tulane, a lot of weekend activity is built around the school and the surrounding New Orleans neighborhood, so the social energy often feels concentrated and easy to access. At Fordham, especially at Rose Hill, there is definitely a campus community, but students also spread out into the city, internships, and off-campus plans, which can make the social experience feel less unified day to day.

For pure “college experience” in the classic sense, Tulane usually feels stronger. The campus culture is known for being outgoing, socially active, and very connected to the city’s festival and nightlife culture. It is often easier to fall into plans there because students tend to stay plugged into the same social rhythm, and the school has a reputation for a lively weekend scene.

Fordham can absolutely be fun, but the fun is less packaged for you. Rose Hill has school spirit, clubs, bars nearby in the Bronx, and easy access to Manhattan, so there is plenty to do. But the social scene can feel more fragmented because some students are very campus-based, some go downtown often, and others are busy with work or internships. That means finding your people is very doable, but sometimes less automatic than at Tulane.
