Fordham vs. Villanova: which is more fun socially?

The biggest practical tradeoff is city-based social life at Fordham versus a more self-contained campus social scene at Villanova. Fordham, especially Rose Hill, gives you access to New York City, NCAA sports, and a lot happening off campus, but that can also make the student body feel more spread out on weekends. Villanova tends to have a tighter, more traditional residential campus culture where parties, clubs, and school spirit are concentrated around the university itself.

If by “more fun socially” you mean it is easy to find people around, walk into familiar faces, and plug into a consistent weekend scene, Villanova usually has the edge. Its suburban campus setup creates a stronger sense that students are spending time in the same places, and the basketball culture adds real energy. A lot of students describe Villanova as socially active in a classic college way.

Fordham can be very social too, but it often depends more on how proactive you are. There are plenty of clubs, campus events, and friend groups, and being in NYC opens up restaurants, concerts, internships, and nightlife that Villanova cannot really match. The flip side is that social life can feel less centralized because some students stay on campus, some go into Manhattan, and some head home.

So if you want the more built-in, campus-centered social experience, Villanova is probably the more fun option for most students. If your idea of fun includes using the city as part of your college life and you are comfortable creating your own social rhythm, Fordham can be more exciting, but it is less automatically cohesive.
