The biggest practical tradeoff is access versus reach: Fordham gives you very close proximity to New York internships during the school year, while Boston University tends to offer a broader national brand and a somewhat stronger platform for formal consulting recruiting. For consulting specifically, BU usually has the edge in structured recruiting pipelines, employer familiarity, and the depth of its business-focused student ecosystem. Fordham can absolutely place students into consulting, especially in New York, but it is more likely to require extra hustle, networking, and self-directed internship building.

BU benefits from Questrom’s visibility with employers and from being at a school where business recruiting is a major part of campus life. That matters in consulting because firms often recruit through a mix of on-campus events, alumni referrals, case prep clubs, and internship pipelines, not just open applications. BU students also have strong access to Boston internships during the year, and Boston has a solid consulting and corporate ecosystem even if it is not as large as New York.
