Baylor vs Notre Dame for finance careers: which has better recruiting and alumni outcomes?

I’m trying to decide between Baylor and Notre Dame and I’m mainly interested in finance after college. Both seem like strong schools, but I’m not sure which one has the better path into internships, networking, and full-time jobs in finance.

I want to choose the school that gives me the strongest overall recruiting and alumni support for landing a finance career.

For finance, Notre Dame usually gives you the stronger overall pipeline. It has deeper alumni reach in finance, a more national recruiting footprint, and especially solid placement into investment banking, markets, and other competitive front-office roles. Baylor can absolutely lead to finance jobs, particularly in Texas, but Notre Dame tends to open more doors across regions and at a wider range of top firms.

Notre Dame is the clearer fit for a student who wants broad national access and a very active alumni network that people in finance take seriously. Its Mendoza College of Business is well known, and the ND alumni culture is one of the school’s biggest advantages in recruiting because alumni often respond, mentor, and help pull students into interviews. If you think you may want New York, Chicago, or other major finance hubs, Notre Dame usually has more established traction there.

Baylor makes sense for a student who wants to build a career with strong ties to Texas, values a more regional network, and is comfortable being more proactive in chasing high-finance opportunities. Baylor’s business school is respected, and students do place into banking, corporate finance, commercial banking, and related roles, especially in Dallas, Houston, and other Texas markets. The path is real, but for the most selective finance tracks, it is often less automatic and more dependent on individual hustle, networking, and standing out on campus.

On internships and full-time recruiting, the difference is less about whether either school can get you into finance and more about how often recruiters show up and how wide the alumni web reaches once you start reaching out. Notre Dame tends to provide a denser built-in network and stronger brand recognition with finance employers. Baylor can still work very well, especially if your goal is Texas-based finance or corporate roles, but if your priority is the strongest overall recruiting and alumni outcomes in finance, Notre Dame has the edge.
