University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign vs UC Berkeley for statistics: which is better for an undergraduate stats major?

Its statistics major is strong, and UIUC’s broader strengths in computer science, mathematics, and engineering can make it a very good environment for applied statistics, analytics, and interdisciplinary technical work. For some students, that ecosystem matters just as much as departmental prestige, especially if they want flexibility across stats, CS, and related applied fields.

So in terms of pure reputation and academic strength in undergraduate statistics, Berkeley is more often the school people would place at the very top. UIUC is not far from elite territory academically, but Berkeley carries more weight specifically in statistics as a discipline.
