Is Auburn or Florida State better for marketing majors?
I’m trying to narrow down my college list and both Auburn and Florida State are on it. I’m interested in marketing and want to choose the school that would give me the stronger overall experience for that major.
I’m looking at things like the business program reputation, internship opportunities, and how well the major seems to prepare students for jobs after graduation.

For marketing, Auburn often stands out for students who want a more business-focused campus experience with strong employer ties and a college town built heavily around the university. Its Harbert College of Business is well regarded, and Auburn tends to appeal to students who want a structured business environment, a big SEC school feel, and recruiting connections that are especially solid across the Southeast. For many students comparing these two specifically for marketing, Auburn can feel a bit more centered on the undergraduate business experience.
Florida State makes a lot of sense for students who want access to a state capital, a larger public-university network, and a setting that can create different kinds of internship options beyond traditional corporate pathways. FSU’s College of Business has a strong marketing program too, and being in Tallahassee can be useful for internships in government-related organizations, nonprofits, tourism, sports, and regional business offices. If you like the idea of a broader campus ecosystem with a lot happening outside the business school itself, FSU may feel more dynamic.
Auburn is often the more appealing choice for someone who wants a classic campus community, close faculty access, and a business program that feels tightly integrated into student life. Marketing students there can benefit from business-specific student organizations, professional development resources, and a loyal alumni base that can matter when looking for internships and first jobs. Auburn has a slight edge for the student who wants a polished, traditional business-school path.
FSU fits well for someone who is more self-directed and wants to use location strategically. Marketing is a field where internships, networking, and portfolio-building matter a lot, so a student who actively pursues opportunities in Tallahassee and across Florida can do very well there. FSU may also be attractive if you want a larger, more varied student environment and potentially broader in-state connections if you hope to work in Florida after graduation.
If your priority is the strongest overall undergraduate business atmosphere, Auburn would be the one to lean toward. If your priority is location-driven opportunity and a wider mix of internship settings, Florida State has a very real case.
