Penn State makes the most sense for a student who wants a traditional business school environment with many concentrations, a big on-campus recruiting presence, and lots of peers pursuing finance, accounting, marketing, management, and supply chain. Smeal is especially well regarded in areas like supply chain and accounting, and Penn State’s alumni base is a real advantage when looking for internships and first jobs. If you like the idea of business being a major campus priority, Penn State has a stronger built-in business ecosystem.

Tulane fits a student who wants business but also values a more intimate academic experience and a curriculum that often feels more interdisciplinary. The A. B. Freeman School of Business has a solid reputation, and Tulane can be especially appealing if you are interested in entrepreneurship, real estate, or connecting business study with public service, hospitality, or global perspectives. New Orleans also gives Tulane a distinctive setting for hands-on learning.

If the question is simply which school is more consistently seen as the heavier hitter for undergraduate business, I’d lean Penn State. Tulane becomes more compelling when you care just as much about smaller classes, closer faculty access, and the specific opportunities that come from studying business in New Orleans.
