Which school has a stronger alumni network: University of Richmond or Notre Dame?

I’m trying to decide between University of Richmond and Notre Dame, and one thing I care about is the alumni network after graduation.

I’m hoping to understand which school is generally known for having more active alumni connections and better networking support for students and recent grads.

Notre Dame has the stronger alumni network. It is especially well known for alumni who stay engaged long after graduation, a culture of loyalty tied to the school’s identity, and a network that tends to be active across industries and major U.S. cities.

Richmond’s network is solid and often quite supportive, but it is smaller and tends to feel more regional, with particularly strong ties in the Mid-Atlantic and certain East Coast circles.

Notre Dame has a notably active alumni club system, strong school spirit, and a campus culture that reinforces lifelong affiliation, which often translates into networking events, mentorship, and career connections that remain accessible after graduation. Richmond offers meaningful alumni engagement too, especially through its tight-knit undergraduate experience, but it does not have the same level of built-in national community reputation.

At Notre Dame, students often benefit from alumni who are eager to take calls, review resumes, or open doors in competitive fields, and that reputation matters when you are trying to build momentum early in your career. Richmond can absolutely deliver strong outcomes, especially for students who build close faculty and alumni relationships, but on the specific question of alumni network strength, Notre Dame is more widely known for it.
