Fordham vs Pace for finance careers: which is better for recruiting and internships?

I’m trying to decide between Fordham and Pace and I want to study finance. Both seem like good options because they’re in New York, but I’m not sure which one gives students a stronger path into internships and full-time jobs in finance.

I’m mainly trying to understand which school has the better reputation and networking opportunities for someone who wants to work in finance after college.

For finance, Fordham usually gives you the stronger path for recruiting, alumni reach, and overall reputation with employers. Its Gabelli School of Business is the bigger draw here, and Fordham’s New York finance network is especially noticeable for students aiming at banking, corporate finance, asset management, or related roles. Pace can absolutely lead to internships, especially because of its location and career-focused culture, but Fordham tends to carry more weight in finance circles.

Fordham makes the most sense for a student who wants a more established business brand and a broader alumni network in New York finance. Gabelli is well known among regional employers, and Fordham students often benefit from a campus culture where finance recruiting, student investment clubs, and internship timing are already built into how many students approach college. That matters because finance hiring often depends on early awareness, peer networks, and alumni outreach as much as classroom learning.

Pace can work well for a student who is highly self-directed, wants a practical, career-first environment, and plans to take advantage of being in Manhattan from day one. It has strong access to internships across New York and can be a good place for someone who wants lots of hands-on experience while in school. For careers in accounting, financial services support roles, fintech-adjacent work, or smaller firms, Pace can be a very solid option.

Where the gap shows most is in finance prestige and recruiting depth. Fordham is more likely to be the school where a finance employer already knows the business program and where alumni are easier to find in traditional finance pipelines. Pace’s opportunities are real, but students often need to create more of that momentum themselves.

If your main question is reputation and networking specifically for finance, Fordham has the edge. If cost, convenience, or your own hustle makes Pace significantly more attractive, it can still get you to good outcomes, but Fordham is the clearer finance brand.
