ASU fits someone who wants the energy and resources of a very large university without needing everything to revolve around one central campus culture. In Tempe especially, you still get big crowds, lots of student organizations, major sports, and a busy social scene, but the overall ASU experience is shaped by the fact that it is part of a large urban area and broader multi-campus system. For some students, that makes it feel more flexible and dynamic. For others, it makes the “big school” vibe feel less concentrated.

If your picture of a big school includes a packed central campus, strong school spirit, and a more traditional flagship atmosphere, UF is likely closer to what you mean. If you mean sheer size, variety, and constant activity in a large metropolitan setting, ASU absolutely delivers that, just in a less contained way.
