UMass Amherst vs BU for business: which is the better choice overall?

Boston University is the stronger overall business option for most students focused on brand strength, recruiting access, and location-driven opportunities. BU’s Questrom School of Business has a more nationally visible reputation in business, sits in the middle of Boston’s employer network, and tends to offer easier access to internships during the school year. For overall degree value in business specifically, those factors usually matter more than campus feel.

The biggest differentiator is location and recruiting. Being in Boston gives BU students direct proximity to finance, consulting, marketing, healthcare, tech, and startup employers, and that can translate into more part-time internships, networking events, and alumni contact while school is in session. For business majors, having those opportunities during the academic year can make a real difference by graduation.

Where UMass Amherst has a real edge is value. Isenberg is a respected business school and can be an especially smart choice if the price gap is large, particularly for in-state students.
