The nearby hospital network gives pre-meds unusually direct access to volunteering, research, and clinical experiences. The atmosphere is still academically serious, but many students see it as more manageable and more overtly supportive of pre-health goals.

If your question is purely about pre-med preparation, Case Western is very compelling because the infrastructure around pre-med is so built-in. If you care a lot about Ivy-level brand name, a dense urban setting, and a wider range of elite academic connections beyond medicine, Columbia has advantages that can matter too.
