Pitt tends to have the stronger overall social scene for most undergrads. Its location in Oakland puts you in the middle of a dense student neighborhood with other campuses nearby, so there is a steady flow of parties, apartment hangouts, restaurants, sports events, and city outings without needing much planning. It is also easier to find different kinds of social spaces there, from Greek life and big school spirit around athletics to low-key club events and off-campus nights.

One big difference is the surrounding environment. Pitt feels plugged into Pittsburgh, which gives students more weekend options beyond campus itself, and that usually makes the social atmosphere feel more active across all four years. Even students who are not into frat parties can usually find concerts, student org events, neighborhood spots, and friends through the broader city energy.

UVM definitely has a real social culture, but it is more specific in vibe. Burlington is fun, walkable, and very likable, but the scene is smaller and often centered around outdoorsy, alternative, or laid-back social circles.
