Is UChicago or UVA better for economics undergrad?

For a student who wants the most intense, theory-heavy undergraduate economics environment, UChicago is the stronger choice. Economics is one of the university’s signature fields, the department has unusual intellectual visibility on campus, and undergrads are surrounded by a culture that takes abstract, analytical social science very seriously.

UChicago tends to fit students who actively want rigor, are comfortable with math, and like classes built around models, argument, and close reasoning.
