Notre Dame or Baylor for business, which is better overall?
I'm trying to narrow down my college list and both Notre Dame and Baylor are on it for business. I know they have different campus cultures and reputations, but I’m mostly trying to understand which one is generally the stronger choice for a business major.
I’m looking at this from the standpoint of academics, internships, and how the degree is viewed after graduation.

For business, Notre Dame is usually viewed as the stronger overall option. Its Mendoza College of Business has a stronger national reputation, broader name recognition with employers across regions, and a particularly well-developed alumni network that can matter a lot for internships and first jobs. If you are comparing pure brand strength, recruiting reach, and post-grad visibility, Notre Dame has the edge.
Notre Dame tends to fit the student who wants a business program with national pull and a campus culture that blends strong academics, school spirit, and a prominent Catholic identity. Mendoza is well regarded by employers, and Notre Dame’s alumni network is one of the school’s biggest advantages. That network can make a real difference when you are looking for internship leads, informational interviews, and job referrals.
It also makes sense for the student who may want flexibility beyond one region. A Notre Dame degree is likely to carry more immediate recognition across the country. The school’s business outcomes are helped not just by classroom quality, but by how connected the institution is to employers and alumni.
Baylor is appealing for a student who wants a strong undergraduate experience in a more regional, relationship-driven environment, especially if Texas is where they hope to build a career. Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business is respected, and Baylor has solid ties in Texas business circles.
Baylor may also suit someone who wants a somewhat less intense national-brand atmosphere while still getting a serious business education in a Christian campus setting. It can be a very good choice for majors like accounting, finance, and entrepreneurship, but its recruiting reach and overall business reputation are not usually seen at the same level as Notre Dame’s.
So if the question is which is stronger overall for business in academics, internships, and degree value after graduation, Notre Dame comes out ahead. Baylor is still a good option, especially for students who want Texas-oriented opportunities and Baylor’s particular campus culture, but Notre Dame is the one more often seen as the higher-ceiling business choice.
