Is Tulane or Indiana better for marketing?

I’m trying to decide between Tulane and Indiana and I want to study marketing. I know both schools are solid overall, but I’m mainly trying to figure out which one would give me the stronger marketing program and better career preparation.

I’m looking at this from the perspective of an incoming student who wants good internship and job opportunities after college.

For marketing, Indiana is usually the more established and career-focused option, especially if you want a business school environment from the start and a deeper recruiting pipeline into corporate marketing, brand management, and sales roles. Indiana’s Kelley School of Business has a very strong national reputation, a large alumni network, and structured undergraduate career support that tends to be a real advantage for internships and first jobs. Tulane can still work well, but it makes the most sense for a student who wants marketing within a smaller, more flexible, and more city-connected college experience rather than the most built-out undergraduate business ecosystem.

Indiana fits the student who wants a big business-school culture, lots of peers heading into similar fields, and access to employers that regularly recruit business undergrads at scale. Kelley is known for strong career preparation, student organizations tied to business and marketing, and a campus environment where recruiting is highly visible. If you already picture yourself pursuing corporate brand management, market research, consumer insights, digital marketing, or sales, Indiana gives you a very direct path.

Tulane fits the student who wants business plus a distinctive New Orleans setting, a somewhat more intimate campus feel, and opportunities to connect marketing with hospitality, entrepreneurship, nonprofits, or local startups. The Freeman School of Business is respected, and being in New Orleans can help with hands-on internships during the school year in ways a more traditional college town may not. That said, the marketing network is not usually viewed as being as broad or as nationally scaled as Kelley’s.

For pure career preparation in marketing, Indiana has the clearer edge. The combination of Kelley’s reputation, alumni base, and recruiting infrastructure is hard to beat if your priority is maximizing business-focused internship and job options.
