For a career specifically in hospitality management, the University of South Carolina offers the more targeted academic preparation and clearer industry pipeline. Its College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management offers a dedicated hospitality management program, with coursework centered on areas such as hotel operations, food and beverage, tourism, events, revenue management, and service leadership. Tulane can support a hospitality-adjacent path through business, marketing, or related fields, but it does not provide the same purpose-built undergraduate hospitality curriculum.

South Carolina’s program also places students in a college organized around hospitality and related service industries, which makes it easier to find specialized faculty, student organizations, experiential learning, and peers pursuing similar careers.

Tulane’s meaningful advantage is New Orleans. The city offers a distinctive live setting for restaurants, festivals, tourism, hotels, and event work, and a Tulane student who actively pursues local internships could gain excellent experience. Tulane’s Freeman School of Business may be appealing if you want a broader business education and expect to apply it to hospitality later.
