That combination tends to create more direct exposure to high-level reporting, internship pipelines, and industry events while you are still in college.

Being in Manhattan matters a lot for journalism because internships, freelance opportunities, speaker events, and networking happen during the school year, not just over the summer. For a student who wants to build clips, meet editors, and get a feel for fast-paced reporting environments, Columbia offers a harder-to-match day-to-day advantage.
