Which has better research opportunities for undergraduates, WashU or Stanford?
I’m trying to compare these two schools mainly for undergraduate research, not just overall prestige. I’m interested in how easy it is to find research as a first- or second-year student and how strong the research culture feels on campus.
I know both schools are known for research, but I want to understand which one might offer more opportunities for an undergrad who wants to get involved early.

For a student who is excited by a huge, fast-moving research environment and is comfortable navigating a more competitive landscape to reach very high-level opportunities, Stanford has the broader ceiling. In pure undergraduate access, WashU may actually feel better; in total research ecosystem and range, Stanford is hard to top.
