At USC, social life is helped by major sports energy and easy access to off-campus events in LA. At WashU, people often describe the community as close-knit and easy to settle into, but the social atmosphere is usually less high-volume and less defined by big public events.

If your idea of strong social life includes football Saturdays, lots of campus buzz, and frequent off-campus options, USC has the edge. The Greek scene has historically been more visible there, and the school’s overall vibe is more extroverted and socially kinetic.

WashU is more likely to appeal if you want a social environment that feels easier to navigate and more community-based day to day.
