Which is better for job placement, CU Boulder or Notre Dame?

I’m trying to decide between CU Boulder and Notre Dame and one thing I care about a lot is getting a job after graduation. I know both schools have strong reputations, but I’m not sure how much that really matters for job placement.

I’m mostly interested in which school tends to give students better career outcomes overall.

The biggest practical tradeoff is reach versus region: Notre Dame tends to offer a stronger national alumni network and more consistent employer pull across many parts of the country, while CU Boulder has especially solid placement in Colorado and the broader Mountain West, with real strength in industries tied to tech, engineering, aerospace, and outdoor business.

That does not mean CU Boulder struggles. Boulder benefits from proximity to Denver-area employers, a strong startup and tech ecosystem, and good connections in engineering, computer science, aerospace, environmental fields, and business. If you want to build a career in Colorado or nearby, CU Boulder can be a very practical launch point.

Notre Dame is stronger in the “open doors anywhere” sense. Its alumni network is known for being highly responsive, and that matters not just for first jobs but also for internships, referrals, and mobility later.

So if the question is overall career outcomes, not just outcomes in a specific region or technical niche, I would lean Notre Dame. CU Boulder becomes more compelling if your interests line up with its strongest sectors or you want to stay in the West, but on pure job-placement power across the board, Notre Dame tends to provide the broader advantage.
