CU Boulder vs Ohio State for engineering: which is better for an engineering degree?

I’m a high school senior trying to narrow down my college list, and these two schools are both on it for engineering. I know they’re different in location and size, but I’m mostly trying to understand which one tends to be the stronger choice academically for engineering overall.

For engineering overall, Ohio State usually has the broader and somewhat more established engineering ecosystem, while CU Boulder stands out especially if you are drawn to aerospace, hands-on research tied to Colorado’s tech scene, and an outdoors-oriented campus culture. In day-to-day academics, both schools will give you solid technical training. The difference is less about one being clearly “good” and the other not, and more about whether you want Ohio State’s larger all-purpose engineering platform or Boulder’s more specialized strengths and setting. For engineering in the broadest sense, I would give Ohio State a slight edge for overall range and scale. For a student interested in aerospace or Colorado-based research and industry connections, CU Boulder can easily be the more compelling option.
