Carnegie Mellon vs UPenn for artificial intelligence: which is better for AI study and careers?
I’m a high school junior trying to figure out which school would be the stronger choice if I want to study artificial intelligence and eventually work in the field.

The biggest practical tradeoff is depth versus breadth. Carnegie Mellon is one of the few places where AI is not just a strength inside computer science but a defining institutional focus, with a dedicated undergraduate AI major in the School of Computer Science, major research centers in robotics and machine learning, and a campus culture that is heavily oriented toward technical building and research. Penn gives you a broader university experience and excellent access to interdisciplinary work through engineering, Wharton, and health-related AI, but its identity is not as singularly centered on AI.
