Wake Forest or Michigan for social life: which school has a better overall social scene?

Both have very active social scenes, but they feel pretty different in practice. Michigan fits the student who wants lots of options and a social environment that can change from one night to the next. You can find football Saturdays, dorm and club communities, student org events, house parties, bars in Ann Arbor, and a general sense that something is always happening. Because the student body is so large, it can take more initiative at first, but once you plug in, there are many lanes for making friends.

Wake Forest fits the student who likes a more intimate campus where people quickly recognize each other and friendships can form fast. Many students describe it as easy to feel socially connected because the campus community is tight and residential. At the same time, the smaller size means fewer total scenes, and weekends can feel more shaped by who you know and what campus-based groups you are part of.

For pure weekend energy and variety, Michigan usually feels bigger and more dynamic. For a more familiar, contained social world where people often know each other well, Wake can be appealing.
