Drexel or Temple for a business major: which is the better choice overall?

The biggest practical tradeoff is structure versus flexibility. Drexel is built around its co-op system, so business students get a very career-focused experience with longer, built-in work placements, while Temple gives you a more traditional college path with strong access to internships through Philadelphia and a lower-pressure academic calendar. For business specifically, both schools can open doors in the city, but they do it in different ways, and that difference matters more than the fact that both are in Philadelphia.

Drexel’s LeBow College of Business is especially appealing if you want hands-on experience to be part of the degree itself. The co-op model can make your resume stronger by graduation, and many students like that the school pushes professional development early. The tradeoff is that Drexel can feel more career-driven and fast-paced, and the calendar is less conventional.

Temple’s Fox School of Business has a larger, more traditional university feel and a strong business presence of its own. You still have access to internships, alumni connections, and recruiting in Philadelphia, but you usually have to be more proactive about stacking those experiences rather than having them built in the way Drexel does. Temple often appeals to students who want solid business training with more flexibility in campus life, academics, and cost.

If the question is which is the better overall choice for business, I’d lean Drexel if career preparation and work experience are your top priorities, because that is the clearest difference between the two. If cost matters a lot, or you want a more classic college experience without being locked into Drexel’s structure, Temple is a very credible alternative and may be the smarter pick for many students.
