Drexel or Rutgers for computer science: which is the better choice?

For computer science, Rutgers is usually viewed as the stronger academic value, especially if cost matters. Its CS program has a solid reputation, the department is larger, and the university offers the scale and research environment of a major public flagship. Drexel stands out most for students who want built-in co-op experience and a more career-structured path during college.

Rutgers tends to fit students who want a traditional university experience with broad academic depth. The CS curriculum is well established, there are many upper-level course options, and being at a large research university can mean more opportunities in labs, related math and engineering areas, and a wider alumni network. For many students, especially in-state applicants, Rutgers is hard to beat on value because the price can be much lower than Drexel.
