Is Northeastern or Purdue more prestigious for undergraduate admissions and job recruiting?

Purdue usually carries the stronger broad reputation for undergraduate admissions and employer recognition, especially in engineering, computer science, and other technical fields. It has a long-established national name, a very large alumni presence in industry, and a reputation that tends to be immediately familiar to recruiters across the country. Northeastern is well respected too, but its reputation is more tied to co-op, applied learning, and strong placement in certain urban and professional sectors.

One important difference is historical brand recognition. Purdue has been nationally known for decades as a major research university with especially strong STEM programs, so on a résumé or in casual reputation terms, more people across regions will instantly recognize it.

Another difference is how each school is viewed by employers. Purdue benefits from deep, longstanding recruiting relationships, particularly in engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, and computing. Northeastern does very well with employers too, but a lot of its edge comes from the co-op model, which helps students build experience early rather than from pure name prestige alone.
