Oregon is in Eugene, where the campus blends into a bike-friendly, outdoorsy city with easy social energy, big school spirit, and frequent student activity. Maine, in Orono, feels more self-contained and calmer, with the outdoors close by but a less dynamic off-campus scene.

For outdoors access, both work well, but in different ways. At Oregon, students benefit from nearby running and biking trails, river access, and a culture where being active feels built into daily life. Weekend trips to mountains, forests, and the coast are a real draw, and the school’s setting makes it easy to mix outdoor recreation with a social college experience.
