Adelphi vs Iona for a business major: which is better for internships and job placement?

I’m deciding between Adelphi and Iona and I’m planning to major in business. Both seem like solid options, but I’m trying to figure out which one would give me better access to internships and help after graduation.

I’m looking for the school that would be the stronger choice for starting a business career.

The biggest practical tradeoff is location and employer access versus campus environment and program breadth. For business internships and early career networking, Iona usually has the edge because its New Rochelle location puts you closer to New York City employers. Adelphi can still place students well, but its strength is often the broader university setting and Long Island connections rather than the same level of immediate proximity to the NYC business market.

For internships, that distance to Manhattan matters. Iona students often have an easier time pursuing in-semester internships, networking events, and employer visits connected to the city. That can be especially useful in fields like finance, marketing, management, and sports business, where being close to companies makes it easier to build experience before senior year.

Adelphi does offer solid business pathways too, and its location in Garden City gives access to Long Island businesses, healthcare administration opportunities, and some NYC reach. It may appeal more if you want a somewhat larger-feeling university experience or you see yourself building a career on Long Island.

For job placement support, both schools provide career services.

If your priority is launching a business career as efficiently as possible, Iona is the better bet between the two. Adelphi is still a credible choice, especially if cost, scholarship money, or personal fit comes out better there, but on internships and career traction for business, I’d lean Iona.
