What is the campus vibe difference between Harvey Mudd and Carnegie Mellon?

Harvey Mudd tends to feel smaller, tighter-knit, and more visibly collaborative, while Carnegie Mellon usually comes across as bigger, more intense, and more varied depending on your major and social circle. At Mudd, the tiny student body and shared core create a strong sense that everyone is in it together. At CMU, the atmosphere is shaped more by school and department, so computer science, engineering, drama, and design can each feel like their own world.

Harvey Mudd is a very small college within the Claremont Colleges consortium, so students often know each other across class years, and it is easier for campus culture to feel unified.
