Is the University of Miami harder to get into than NYU?

The biggest practical tradeoff is that both are well-known private universities with large applicant pools, but NYU is usually viewed as the more selective admit overall. NYU tends to draw a broader global applicant base, receives very high application volume across many of its colleges, and is more often treated by students and counselors as a reach-level school. The University of Miami is also competitive, but in an overall admissions comparison, NYU is typically harder to get into.
