Is the University of Miami or Virginia Tech more competitive for admission?

The University of Miami is generally more competitive for admission overall than Virginia Tech, particularly for applicants seeking admission from outside the state. Miami receives a very large national applicant pool and has become notably selective across many of its undergraduate programs. Virginia Tech is also selective, but its level of competitiveness varies more sharply by residency and major.
