Is Boston University worth the extra cost compared with Fordham University for undergraduates?

BU has stronger overall name recognition across many parts of the country, a wider range of majors and research opportunities, and a campus woven into central Boston. Fordham, especially at Rose Hill, tends to feel smaller and more traditional, and its New York location is a real advantage for internships, finance, media, and other city-based opportunities.

So no, BU is not automatically worth the extra cost for every undergraduate. The extra money can make sense if you would clearly use what BU does better: more program options, easier access to large-scale research, a bigger student body and alumni network, and a faster-paced urban environment.

But the gap is often not large enough to assume BU will produce noticeably better outcomes on its own. For many students, internships, grades, faculty relationships, and how well they use the city matter more than the difference between these two names. Fordham is well regarded, places students well in New York, and can be the smarter value if the cost difference would mean more debt.
