UC Berkeley vs Tsinghua for computer science: which is better for undergrad CS?

I’m trying to decide between UC Berkeley and Tsinghua for computer science, and I keep seeing both schools come up as top options. I’m a high school senior and want to choose the one that would give me the stronger overall CS experience as an undergraduate.

I’m mostly thinking about the quality of the CS program, research opportunities, and how the school’s reputation might be viewed later on.

For undergraduate computer science, UC Berkeley has the edge for most students because its CS ecosystem is broader, more internationally legible in tech hiring, and especially strong at the undergraduate level. Tsinghua carries enormous weight in China and is highly respected internationally, especially in technical fields. Berkeley, though, tends to have wider immediate recognition for CS among U.S. graduate programs, major tech employers, and startup circles, which matters if you may work, intern, or apply to grad school in the United States.

The main reason to choose Tsinghua instead would be if you want to build your career primarily in China or you strongly prefer its academic structure and environment. But on pure undergraduate CS experience, Berkeley offers the more powerful combination of program depth, research exposure, and career adjacency.
