Is Arizona State or Auburn better for Greek life?

Auburn has the stronger Greek life culture overall. Greek life is more central to the social scene there, it tends to have a bigger presence in campus traditions and weekend life, and Auburn’s SEC environment makes sororities and fraternities especially visible. At Arizona State, Greek life is active and sizable, but it is only one part of a much broader social ecosystem.

At Auburn, Greek life is woven more tightly into student life. Recruitment is a major campus event, chapters have a high profile, and for many students, especially early on, fraternities and sororities shape social circles, parties, philanthropy, and game day culture. The Southern campus atmosphere also gives Greek organizations a more established, tradition-heavy role than at many large public universities outside that region.

At Arizona State, the social scene is bigger and more decentralized. There are plenty of fraternities and sororities, and you can absolutely have a strong Greek experience there, but ASU’s size, Tempe location, bar scene, athletics, and off-campus social options mean Greek life does not dominate in the same way. Students can be very socially active without being involved in it, which makes the Greek scene feel less central even when it is busy.

The social tone is different too. Auburn’s Greek life often feels more community-based and campus-centered, while ASU’s can feel more spread out and tied to the broader Tempe environment.
