Is UNC Charlotte or Drexel worth it for a business degree?
I’m trying to decide between UNC Charlotte and Drexel for business, and I keep seeing mixed opinions about whether either school is actually worth the cost.
I’m mainly looking at the degree from the perspective of getting a solid business education and decent career opportunities after graduation.

The biggest practical tradeoff is cost versus built-in career access. UNC Charlotte is usually the more affordable path, especially for North Carolina residents, while Drexel’s main selling point is its co-op system and stronger direct ties to employers in a major East Coast city. For business, both can lead to solid outcomes, but they do it in different ways: UNC Charlotte benefits from Charlotte’s banking and finance market, and Drexel benefits from structured work experience during college.
UNC Charlotte makes the most sense if keeping debt down is a major priority and you want access to the Charlotte business scene. The Belk College of Business is well connected to a city with a real concentration of banking, finance, accounting, and corporate roles, which matters more than many students realize. That location can translate into internships and networking, especially if you are proactive.
Drexel is easier to justify when the co-op model meaningfully changes your opportunities and the price is manageable. The LeBow College of Business has a practical, career-oriented reputation, and Drexel’s co-ops can give you multiple rounds of resume-building experience before graduation. In business fields where early experience matters a lot, that structure can be a real advantage.
The concern with Drexel is that the cost can be very high, and for a business degree, high debt can undercut the value of the extra access. Business is not one of those fields where paying a big premium automatically leads to a much bigger payoff. UNC Charlotte may not have the same national brand or packaged co-op experience, but a lower-cost degree plus strong internships can be the smarter financial outcome.
If the price gap is large, UNC Charlotte is probably the better value. If Drexel is close enough in cost after aid and you would really use the co-op system well, then Drexel becomes easier to defend. Between the two, I would lean UNC Charlotte for value and Drexel only if the net cost is genuinely reasonable.
