Which is better for dorm life, Chapman University or UC San Diego?

For dorm life specifically, Chapman usually has the edge. Its campus is smaller, more residential-feeling, and easier to navigate socially, so meeting people in the first year often feels more natural. UC San Diego has solid housing in many of its residential colleges, but the scale of the campus and the college system can make the social experience feel more spread out.

At Chapman, students are living in a more compact environment where residence halls, dining, and campus events are closely connected. That tends to create a stronger everyday sense of community, especially if you want the kind of dorm experience where people regularly run into each other, keep doors open, and build friendships quickly. UC San Diego’s biggest housing feature is its residential college system, which gives students a smaller community within a very large university. Some students really like that structure, and newer housing in parts of UCSD can be quite nice.
