What is campus life like at Chapman University compared to UC Irvine?

Chapman and UC Irvine do feel meaningfully different day to day. Chapman tends to feel more intimate, residential, and visibly social because it is smaller, has a compact campus in Old Towne Orange, and student life is easier to notice as you walk around. UC Irvine usually feels bigger, more spread out, and more self-directed, with a lot happening but less of a constant “everyone is on the same campus wave” feeling.

Chapman often fits students who want a campus where people recognize each other, events feel easy to drop into, and involvement can happen quickly. Some people experience UCI as quieter or more commuter-influenced, especially compared with smaller residential campuses, even though there is plenty going on.
