Which is better for finance jobs: Tulane or NYU?
I’m a high school senior trying to figure out which school would give me a better shot at breaking into finance after college. I’ve heard both Tulane and NYU can lead to strong career outcomes, but I’m not sure how they compare for recruiting, alumni connections, and opportunities in banking or related finance roles.
I’m mainly trying to understand which one has the stronger reputation for finance jobs.

For finance jobs, NYU has the stronger reputation and recruiting position. Its location in New York City matters a lot for banking, asset management, and other finance roles, and Stern is one of the most established undergraduate business brands in the country. Even outside Stern, NYU students benefit from proximity to firms, internships during the school year, and a very deep alumni network in finance.
NYU makes the most sense for a student who wants to be immersed in finance early and is comfortable in a fast-paced, career-oriented environment. Being in the city creates access to informational interviews, part-time internships, and networking events that are simply harder to match elsewhere.
Tulane is a very respectable option for a student who wants a more traditional campus experience and still hopes to land in finance, especially if they are proactive. Tulane has solid business preparation, a loyal alumni base, and real placement into banking and related fields, particularly in the South and through students who network aggressively. It can work well for someone who values smaller-school community, likes New Orleans, and is willing to hustle harder for off-campus recruiting.
If your question is strictly about brand strength for finance jobs, NYU is the clearer answer. Tulane can absolutely lead to finance outcomes, but it does not carry the same national weight with finance employers, especially for front-office roles in New York. In practical terms, NYU gives you more built-in access, while Tulane asks more of you to create those opportunities yourself.
