BU’s version of fun is different. Because the campus runs right through Boston, students have easy access to restaurants, concerts, internships, neighborhoods, and nightlife off campus. That can be exciting, but it also means the social scene can feel more independent and less unified. If you mean parties specifically, neither school is known primarily as a huge party campus, but Northwestern usually has the stronger sense of traditional undergraduate social life.
