Should I choose UCLA or Georgia Tech if I want better internship opportunities?

For internship access specifically, Georgia Tech often has the clearer built-in path, especially for engineering, computer science, and other technical fields. UCLA also offers excellent opportunities, but they can feel more self-directed and spread across a larger, less professionally centered undergraduate environment.

Georgia Tech tends to suit the student who wants recruiting to be highly visible and tightly connected to campus. Atlanta gives students access to a large job market nearby, and Tech is known for employers recruiting there very intentionally for technical roles.

UCLA fits the student who wants broader optionality and is comfortable building opportunities across multiple industries. Being in Los Angeles helps for entertainment, media, biotech, startups, health-related work, and some tech, and UCLA’s name opens plenty of doors. But because UCLA is bigger and less centered on one dominant preprofessional pipeline, students often need to be more proactive about networking, timing applications, and navigating a large campus ecosystem.

If your priority is simply making internships easier to access as an undergrad, I would lean Georgia Tech, particularly for technical majors. The school’s structure, employer relationships, and city connection often create a more direct route from classroom to internship. UCLA can absolutely match it for ambitious students, especially in certain industries, but the path is usually less packaged and more dependent on your own hustle.
